Born in London with an Italian father and an Italian, part-German, part-Polish speaking mother, Jack Savoretti has long been fascinated by his roots, making his sixth album ‘Singing To Strangers’ in famed Ennio Morricone’s studio in Rome and exploring pan-Mediterranean music in his 2021 ‘Europiana’. ‘Miss Italia’, Savoretti’s eighth album and the first ever all-Italian language recording by the singer-songwriter, is a tribute to his late father: “My father was the anchor that tied me to Italy, the connection to my roots that I felt I was at danger of losing without him…I didn’t want to imitate Italian music, I wanted to make it my own, combining everything I had learned over 20 years of experience from working in America, England and Italy, merging Anglo-Saxon singer-songwriting with Italian to create something unique. I first had to learn to write in Italian before making MY album in Italian”. ‘Miss Italia’ is an album of bubbly Italian pop mixed with passionate ballads, featuring an array of guest fellow singers. Songs to listen out for in this thirteen-track collection include: the dramatic opener ‘Come Posso Raccontare’; the catchy ‘Malinconia’; the title track, a play on the words ‘I miss Italy’, with its football commentary underpinning the outro; a sparkling duet with friend and fellow artist Natalie Imbruglia on ‘Ultime Parole’; the upbeat, Europoppy sound of ‘Bada Bing, Bada Boom’; and a spirited collaboration with renowned Italian blues singer Zucchero on the closer ‘Senza Una Donna (Without A Woman’). Sung with passion, this is one for loyal Savoretti fans, coming out ahead of a European tour.
