intro
Exceptional digital sixth solo album from Sussex-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jules Winchester, upon which she has collaborated with Groovy Uncle's Glenn Prangnall
Sussex-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jules Winchester has released ‘The Journey’, her latest album and her sixth record. It is another triumph for her, showcasing yet again Jules's talent for writing affecting lyrics and the mellowness and range of her attractive voice plus her very real skill as an arranger for a wide range of instruments. This album (with attractive artwork designed by Darryl Hartley) took almost two years to complete and it also features the capable Glenn Prangnell who has collaborated with Jules on several tracks and assisted with production. Every song on ‘The Journey”’is a joy to listen to. But particular highlights include:- ‘Without Knowing’, a song about loving someone who doesn't know about it which was written, arranged and produced by Jules; ‘Moonlight”’ a duet written with Glenn Prangnell who arranged and produced it; ‘Morning Rain’, about love hurting with Jules playing most instruments and Glenn adding bass, drums and backing vocals; ‘Almost’ - a cleverly constructed song by Jules with various meanings; ‘Balanced Act’ - another of Jules's songs that is intended to be open to various interpretations by the listener plus the title track which is all about listening to others, being there and trying to help - written and sung by Jules with arrangement, backing vocals and production by Glenn Prangnell. Jules Winchester has now been singing, playing various instruments, writing, aranging and recording music for over thirty years and she has long been admired by some of the most respected musicians in the UK. ‘The Journey’ is yet another exceptionally strong album – and hopefully it will help Jules achieve the far wider recognition her talents so clearly deserve.
