intro

Andrew Twambley photographs ska group the Selecter at a gig on their latest tour at the Ritz in Manchester.

While they were initially short-lived lasting just two years between 1979 and 1981, the Coventry-based Two-Tone band the Selecter in that period released several classic singles including 'On My Radio', 'Three Minute Hero' and 'Missing Words' as well as two seminal albums 'Too Much Pressure' (1980) and 'Celebrate the Bullet'(1981). Since reforming in 1990, they have gone on to release another thirteen studio albums and frontwoman Pauline Black has published her memoirs, 'Black by Design'. The group, which remains centred around Black and her co-vocalist Arthur 'Gaps' Hendrickson, toured the UK in October. These photographs of the Selecter were taken by Andrew Twambley at a show at the Manchester Ritz on the 25th October. Photos by Andrew Twambley www.twambley.com
