Variable remixes for Italian post-rockers Father Murphy from Houston band Indian Jewelry and French electro musician Philippe Petit
The first ever two remixes for Father Murphy come from Houston's Indian Jewelry, who has been of non-descript profile until now, and Toulouse's premier bliphop connaisseur, Philippe Petit. 'His Face Showed No Distortions' consists, on the original album, 'Anyway, Your Children Will Deny It', of a hammering 2m22s, upon which it sounds as if a snare instrument is being treated in such way that a percussion instrument usually fails to survive things. Let alone deliver. Indian Jewelry's remix uses a wind organ to put the repetitive theme in place, but at the same time it seems shy of doing any harm to the original. Perhaps in typical Indian Jewelry style it shied off. To add to the sense of urban touch, and providing an eerie last few moments as if you're standing on the platform of a tube station, Philippe Petit signed on. Drastically reworking the original and stretching its length of by a quarter, Petit's crispy and electronic rendition of 'Diggin' the Bottom of the Hollow' has an element of suspense, and both serves as a gentle reminder of Father Murphy and also how to go about writing music.
