intro
Perfect CDS reissue of Creation label boss Alan McGee’s band Biff Bang Pow’s 1986 first 12 inch single, 'Love's Going Out of Fashion'
This is a CDS reissue of Creation label boss Alan McGee’s band Biff Bang Pow’s 1986 first twelve inch single, ‘Love's Going Out of Fashion’, which has come out on the German label Edition 59 records, and which like all their records is limited to just 59 copies. ‘Love’s Going Out of Fashion’ has jangly rickenbackers, a Neil Young mouth organ and is a love song of splendid quality for the C86 generation. It is one of the early Creation era’s best moments. ‘Inside the Mushroom’ is a super slice of haunting Rickenbacker Byrds-style and West Coast guitar heaven. It sounds like a superb combination of the Byrds’ ‘8 Miles High’ and the Beatles’ during their ‘Rubber Soul’/’Revolver’ era. ‘It Happens All the Time’ is heartfelt and jangly, a sad love song, while ‘In the Afternoon’ which ends the EP, is an atmospheric and updated version of the 60s as played in the mid 80s. Perfect.
