intro

Infectious new charity single from Frank Turner, which about the death of a close friend from breast cancer is both upbeat and life-affirming

This song was written for a friend of Frank’s who died of breast cancer. Whilst alive she used her time to raise money for breast cancer charities, and Frank has decided to donate the money raised by this single in memory of her. But don’t let the fact that it’s a “charity” single put you off. It’s not Live Aid or any such schmaltz. This is a celebration of Lex’s life and death and how she wanted to party on ‘til the very last. According to the lyrics, Frank wasn’t close by when she died, so he gathered up his friends and went to the pub for a good sing-a-long and a drink. So musically this is a jolly sing and danc, but you might find that you’re crying whilst you’re dancing. Frank also held a mini festival called Lexapalooza to raise money back in September, and intends to hold it every year. Frank’s music is infectious and I can see why he’s supporting the Levellers on their upcoming tour. I’d seriously encourage everyone who’s going along to get there early and turn up for Frank – get out of the pub you drunken bums. There’s music to hear.
