More art rock and post rock than African-influenced new single from innovative avant garde Chicago trio, Volcano !

Expectations are high for Volcano!'s follow-up to the excellent 'Beautiful Seizure' and on the basis of the single from that new album, 'Africa Just Wants To Have Fun' is a joyous outburst of noise. The African impact - a bit of juju, is neglectable as Volcano! go romping about in their frenzied art-rock, math-rock, post-rock and any-rock type of Chicago rock music. Single reviews tend to be short by nature, so I shall use this occasion to coin any-rock and all-rock as ways to describe the hash of styles born from the ashes of new wave. A slow version of the opening track on the new album is the extra track on this single. The wittily titled 'Performance Evaluation Shuffle' catches singer Aaron With almost crooning over a jazzy freeform groove.
