intro
Bland second album from initally promising hardcore punks Clair de Lune
What has happened to Deep Elm recently? They used to be one of my favourite labels, but either my tastes have dramatically changed, or they’ve just got rather rubbish? Or both? 'Marionettes', Claire De Lune’s debut album was a raucous and distinctive piano punk album. I really liked it, and gave it a favourable review. Now they are a totally bland ‘post-hardcore’ band and sound almost exactly the same as all the other bands in the genre. There is nothing about this record that makes me want to play it again, and I doubt I ever will. If the music industry wants to wonder why it isn’t always profitable, it need only look at bands like this who filter out all their distinctive elements in order to fit into the prevailing mood of the day. About a million bands could have made this album, and several thousand at least already have. Avoid.
