intro

Largely uninspiring debut album from Byrds-fixated Liverpudlian rockers, the Basement

The Basement hail from Liverpool and will appeal to fans of the Byrds and Mojave 3 offshoot band, the Loose Salute. They originally appeared about three years ago, released a few singles and then dissappeared. They are now back but I don't think they will make much waves due to the fact on the release date of this album they played to a less than half full Barfly in London. It was, however, to be fair rather hot that night. The album is a mixture of Byrds style country Americana and Shane MacGowan/Levellers style vocals. Several songs are very happy while others are damn right miserable. Luckily for us nothing here lasts that long or beyond three minutes. To sum it up, this is one for hardcore Byrds fans only.
