intro
Well performed, but uninspiring pop in the already overcrowded Italo disco genre from new Swedish duo the Gentle Touch
Okay, this has to stop now. I have had it up to here (I’m pointing to my throat, if you can’t see it) with Swedish male duos that makes Italo disco-flavoured music together. This monster was created by Le Sport, or Eurosport as they were once known, and ever since they released their first EP last year, more and more bands that sounds like them have formed all over Sweden. A while ago Unarmed Enemies released their first EP, and now it’s Gentle Touch’s turn, and just like the other two bands mentioned here, they have done it on the Songs I Wish I Had Written label. Gentle Touch is, surprise surprise, a duo from Kalmar in the southeast of Sweden, and they have gained quite a following in their native country during the past months. I have to say that this isn’t bad at all. Some of the songs are quite good, but I’m so fed up with this Italo disco hype now. I still like the old 80’s Italo disco, with bands such as Scotch, but I really can’t see where this hype came from. Sure, there are some fabulous songs in the genre, but that’s not anything unique for the Italian disco scene. Oh well, I’m going to stop being such a grumpy old man now. If you like Le Sport, you might very well like this too. Give it a try!
