intro
Captivating re-release on the Matinee label of early material by much acclaimed London-based indie pop duo, Pipas
It's been four years now since this record first hit the shelves. Back then, it was in the shape of a 10" vinyl record, but since that is quite hard to get a hold of these days, the good folks at Matinée decided to re-release it on CD. And the fun doesn't stop there... Oh no. We even get three bonus tracks, from the Matinée 7" 'A Short Film about Sleeping", making this CD the "complete early years" of London duo Pipas. Quite frankly, if you ask methis is the CD to own by this band,. Here they still haven't really discovered what you can do with a computer when making music, so we get less drum'n'bass rhythms and more guitars and drum machines. Now it may sound like I don't like their latter albums, and that's not the truth at all. It's just that I prefer songs like 'Wells Street' and 'St Pancras'. All in all, you get 11 fantastic pop songs. If you like them you might want to check out 'A Cat Escaped' and the rest of the band's catalogue. Be sure too to check them out if they happen to play your town soon (which is quite likely, as they tour a lot). You would have to look for a long time to find a better band...
