intro
Diverse new EP, with both a late night feel and a tweeness, from Oxford quartet
As a virgin listener to Cody, I don't know this band at all I am afraid to say. This EP does have both a late night feel and a tweeness to it, but there is still more to it than meets the eye. Track 2, "Flexibility' has Cure-like bass lines, while Track 1, the title track, 'Uplift', sounds twee, like Belle and Sebastian, with their amps turned up, rather than inaudible as usual. It also has a cool groove ; you can dance to it. On a second listening, "Flexibility' sounds like Trembling Blue Stars, who, upon their last wonderful album, 'Alive to Every Smile' were trying to be a commercial singles stylish version of the Cure at their poppiest. 'Track 3, 'Aquaplaner', however, falls into Slowdive post rock territory and is a wonderful trippy trip of a track. On the whole, a rather different three tracks but very pleasant too.
Track Listing:-
1 Uplift2 Flexibility
3 Aquaplaner
