intro
This is a real little gem from a new band I’d read good things about but hadn’t heard anything by until this, their second single from Action, the same label that first brought us the Boo Radleys.
This is a real little gem from a new band I’d read good things about but hadn’t heard anything by until this, their second single from Action, the same label that first brought us the Boo Radleys. This was released as Euro 2000 got under way and ‘Slender’ could well be about England’s chances! ‘Slender’ starts slowly and gently with boy-girl verses and it just builds and builds and when you expect it to explode it just stops. Flip side ‘Them vs.Us’ is more of the same and is too good to be lost as a B-side. I’m going to be following their progress closely now and if all goes to plan Tompaulin could do very well for themselves indeed. This pop/folk sound seems to be in vogue at the moment and Belle & Sebastian fans will love this.
