Upbeat and appealing new album from Brit Award=nominated soul singer-songwriter Tom Drennan

Brit and Ivor Novello-nominated soul singer-songwriter Tom Grennan has released a new record, 'What Ifs and Maybes', the follow-up to his breakthrough 2021 ‘Evering Road’, which gave him his first UK No. 1 album. This new collection, his third, is a mix of styles, from slower tempo ballads to catchy pop, at heart “a record that people can dance to….have that sense of escapism”, the central theme being around gaining or losing love. Songs to listen out for in this seventeen-track collection include: the opener, lead single, vibrant party anthem ‘How Does It Feel?’; ‘Crown Your Love’, which starts off appearing like a classic piano ballad, to then turn into a pulsating drum-driven dance track with an epic chorus; the moody ‘Before You’, the first song written for the album and its “DNA”; the atmospheric ‘Sleeping Rough’; the upbeat ‘Psychedelic Kisses’; the slower tempo ‘Someone I Used To Know’; ‘You Are Not Alone’ with its sensitive, empathetic lyrics; the catchy duet with KSI on ‘Not Over Yet’; and the electronic bopping closer ‘Lionheart’ by and with Joel Corry. Envisaged as an album “that looks forward to the future, forward to life”, ‘What Ifs and Maybes’ is a record of mellow songs, highlighting Grennan’s appealing vocals, the upbeat dance tracks accentuating more the gruff timbre of his voice.
