Long Island duo The Lemon Twigs (brothers Brian and Michael D'Addario) were bored by the music of their mid-20s peers and were far more enthusiastic about the music of yesteryear – from Broadway show tunes to the chart-pop of the 1960s and 1970s. Their heroes included Simon & Garfunkel, Wings and Supertramp. Their musical career kicked off well as teenagers with 2016's 'Do Hollywood' but their second album 'Go To School' in 2018 was an ambitious rock opera and it fared less well commercially. Sales of their third album, 'Songs For The General Public' were unfortunately affected by the pandemic - but they are hoping to get fully back on track with their latest album, 'Everything Harmony' which is less concept-based and focussed far more on quality songs. The pair have reined in their bombastic instincts – and the new record is all the better for that! 'When Winter Comes Around' is a beautiful track - all finger-picking guitars and sumptuous harmonies. 'Any Time Of Day' which was written for a new (but now aborted) American TV show about an imaginary 1970s family band owes something to The Four Seasons. Throughout the album there is a level of sophistication that's unusual for a band who are so young. Elton John, Iggy Pop, Ed Sheeran and Chrissie Hynde are all major fans of The Lemon Twigs and, having listened to “Everything Harmony”, it isn't hard to understand why. From 27 May The Lemon Twigs will be touring the UK including dates at Brighton, Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow and London.
