intro
Accomplished debut album from critically acclaimed Oxfordshire-based indie folk artist Dolly Mavies
Oxfordshire-based indie folk artist Dolly Mavies has spent years supporting artists like Mel C, Tom Robinson, Beverley Knight and Sophie Ellis-Bextor to great acclaim – including from these top-billed performers. Tom Robinson was “greatly impressed” by her and Sophie Ellis-Bextor said, “Dolly has real talent and great professionalism - I envisage a big future for her” Dolly has in the past featured in various music magazines and now, after many years of writing her own material, she has now released her first album, 'The Calm & The Storm'. It is an accomplished record and showcases Dolly's writing ability as well as her beautiful singing style. She is very excited about the new release. “It is great! We have been recording the album for over a year, but I spent years before that writing these songs and then playing them live to different audiences and experiencing that connection with the crowd. I love playing live but it is wonderful to finally release my own album, too.”
