intro
Uplifting Christmas album from Grammy award winning UK singer-songwriter Joss Stone
Grammy award winning UK singer-songwriter Joss Stone has released her first ever Christmas record. Inspired by luminaries including Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby and Michael Buble and recorded in Nashville, ‘Merry Christmas, Love’ is a mellow musical journey through well-known classics as well as two of her own compositions. Stone recounted how it was years in the making: “All the Christmas stars have aligned and put me in the right place at the right time with the right team of people to make this music shine magic in every direction. I just hope people enjoy hearing it as much as I have making it.” Songs to listen out for in this sixteen-track collection include: the old favourite ‘Let It Snow’; Stone’s Motown take on the classic Stevie Wonder song ‘What Christmas Means To Me’; an expressive, harmonious rendition of ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’; and the original, rousing composition ‘Bring On Christmas Day’ performed live, highlighting Stone’s mellifluous vocals. Coming out just before the birth of her second child, “Merry Christmas, Love” is a record full of festive spirit with a soulful, uplifting core; a surprising addition to this talented musician’s repertoire.
