intro
Familiar but impressive hard rock on fourth album from Guns'N'Roses guitarist Slash with his side project The Conspirators
Stoke-on-Trent born Saul Hudson, better known as Slash - was lead guitar in Guns'N'Roses and is responsible for many of modern rock's more memorable riffs. Long held in high esteem by many of music's most seasoned rock instrumentalists, Slash - the top-hatted virtuoso - has been back playing with Guns'N'Roses since their 2016 reunion. His solo career, however, continues and .4’ is his latest album with side project, The Conspirators. Recorded “as live” in Nashville – (the band even travelled each day to the studio in their tour bus just to enhance the on-the-road feel!), the new album keeps to familiar, hard-rocking territory with slithering solos and crunchy choruses. Vocalist Myles Kennedy is both bluesy and melodic and there are surprisingly tender touches on ‘Fill My World”. It is, however, Slash's sheer force of personality that is most impressive. His solo on ‘Fall Back To Earth’ with echoes of Guns'N'Roses ‘November Rain” reminds us all why Slash is still so highly rated by those who really know about class rock guitar performances.
