Diana Krall - This Dream of You

Diana Krall has put together 'This Dream of You', a new album which dips into The Great American Songbook using material from sessions with the late American jazz producer Tommy LiPuma shortly before his death in 2017 at the age of 80. As ever, Krall – now 55 – performs impeccably throughout. There are tributes by the singer and her pianist to Nat King Cole on 'All For You', on the mellow ballad 'But Beautiful' and on the nightclub style jazz number, 'Just You, Just Me and That's All'. There is a dark and rather deep interpretation of 'Don't Smoke In Bed' and the title track is a clever transformation of a number from Bob Dylan's 2009 LP 'Together Through Life'. Dylan's version originally was Tex-Mex Americana but Krall turns it into a powerfully nostalgic bar-room lament – accompanied by her uncle Randall Krall on accordion. 'This Dream Of You' is yet another superbly crafted album from Diana Krall who must be one of the finest female singers performing today.
