intro
Captivating and sensitive first solo record in six years from singer-songwriter and keyboardist, Christopher Holland
'Golden Hour’ is the seventh album by Christopher Holland, singer, songwriter, keyboard player and brother of Jools Holland. Previously, Christopher has played with soul legends including Al Green, Mavis Staples and Solomon Burke. The album features soulful vocals from Katy Shotter on the Stevie Wonder inspired ‘Beautiful Fantastic Planet’, the first single from this new album, as well as vocal contributions from Sumudu Jayatilaka and Siobhan Parr, and a collaboration with Squeeze’s Chris Difford in ‘On Blackheath’, a song about the area of South London Holland and Difford both grew up in. This new collection, Christopher Holland’s first solo record in six years was recorded in between touring and recording with his brother’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. Christopher Holland produced the album himself and it is an infectious and reflective journey through life, set against a backdrop of classic vintage keyboards and synths. The songs are a captivating and personal compilation which Christopher Holland says are infused with the feel and the sounds of the classic songs from the mid-70s to early 80s which he grew up listening to. The focus of ‘Golden Hour’ – an album by a clearly talented and sensitive musician - is, however, very much on the future.
