intro
Reinventive first album in nine years from bestselling British singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield
The versatile, self-reinventing singer Natasha Bedingfield has released her first album in nine years. Bedingfield has sold over ten million albums and ten million singles worldwide, her infectious rhythmic pop sound netting her Platinum artist status, a Grammy Award nomination for ‘Best Female Pop Vocal Performance’ and multiple Brit Award nominations for Best British Female Artist. She has performed with a wide range of people including Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crow and Jon Bon Jovi. ‘Roll With Me,’ her fourth album was nine years in the writing. It is produced by multiple platinum producer Linda Perry. Bedingfield says this album is "about being free to be who you are. It explores things like making a relationship last while not losing your sense of self." No single musical genre characterises this record. It moves easily from pop to R&B and on to reggae, exploring personal and public themes. The tracks range from an ode to a first child, ‘King of the World’ to ‘Hey Papa’ on gun violence, and ‘Everyone Come Together’ which is "a response to an increasingly divided world." Different moods pervade ‘Roll With Me’, but there is a cohesion in the instruments used, set against Beddingfield’s confessional lyrics. The message is for people to have fun and "let the music take you somewhere and go along for the ride."
