Sticks - No Sustain
Label: Market Square Recordings
Format: 7"

intro

Off-kilter punk pop as it has not been heard of in ages on four-track vinyl EP from Brighton trio the Sticks

The Market Square Recordings label must be the one renting the furthest away stand on the record market. There is no official website. There is an email account, a blog and they are on Bandcamp though, hey, hey, and the Sticks' new EP has a limited run of 300 singles with hand-pressed leaflets, no less. Their tunes are quirky and edgy and their influences which are so many range from John to Peel. There are so many that I cannot put my finger on any. Yet what sets apart the Sticks from the others is the small dose of surf music riffs, or quasi avant garde hooks, that turn these four tracks into small adventures in music, each lasting around two minutes. Carrying the torch well into the 2020s, the Sticks link the odd forty years of obstinate counter culture.

Track Listing:-
