intro
Fabulous comeback album and first album in six years from seminal Glaswegian indie pop act, Teenage Fanclub
Well, it's been a long wait for album ten for fan(nies) of the Bellshill popsters, but 'Here' has finally arrived six years after the previously released 'Shadows' in 2010. The format is typically twelve new tracks split equally by writers, Norman Blake, Gerard Love and Raymond McGinley and it will certainly please the fanatical followers by being another winner. Opener and first single from it 'I'm in Love' is another Blake triumph and certainly lays the mark down for this eagerly awaited offering. Gerard Love has penned many of my favourite tracks particularly on the legendary 'Grand Prix', one of the highs of the Creation catalogue and again sticking to the script 'Thin Air' shows he has not lost his touch in producing catchy pop masterpieces. Raymond's first offering is next with the dreamy 'Hold On' and as laid back as you could possibly get. The formulae is definitely one that works just fine for the band, who are clearly not prolific in the long play department. Norman's 'The Darkest Part of the Night' is for me the stand out and simply oozes class, so much it had me reaching for the repeat button not once but twice on first listen. The album has plenty of the same in 'Love in the Moment', the dreamy 'Steady State' and Love's 'It's a Sign', which clearly mark a triumphant return for the Bellshill legends.
