intro
Off-kilter but compelling pop with her new single from London-based singer-songwriter, Ruth Theodore
Ahead of Ruth Theodore's upcoming album 'Cactacus' comes this slice of angelic but slightly off-kilter poetic pop. There are so many little clicks, bells and whistles happening in this song it's hard to identify every instrument used but ultimately it doesn't matter. The intriguing mix of sounds enhances rather than distracts from this beautiful song about how we can't always control the way we respond to that special type of madness we call love. Writing on her website ahead of its launch, Theodore said, "This song took me over four years to write as I found it difficult to exist within its context so I needed to write it in restricted periods of time so I didn’t get swallowed up." Ruth Theodore is described as 'quirky' and known for her 'insightful, poetic lyrics and insidious melodies' and that seems to be a pretty accurate description, this song has been stuck in my head since I first played it.
