intro
Forceful and whirlwind latest offering from Norwegian freeform jazz outfit, the Fire! Orchestra
Unlikely as it seems, Norway's Fire! Orchestra captures the newest instalment of breezing Chicago freeform jazz in a quite rightful manner. A phenomenom in the making, 'Ritual' melts harmony and melody with mild anarchy. Set to full-speed ahead, the Fire! Orchestra incorporates so many sounds that many of them seem to go missing in this whirlwind extravagance. At times almost like a breezing philharmonic, the Fire! Orchestra have got to a stage in which only Norway's illustruous illuminati have previously gained access to. Comprising just about each and everyone involved in the jazz scene north of Hamburg and Amsterdam, it's Bergen's crème de la crème which manages this truly freefrom highlight in jazz bonanza. Smashingly disturbing, or disturbingly smashing, as if Bristol has been swept ashore to the coast at Stavanger, Fire! Orchestra have transferred into Rip, Rig & Panic with an end result beyond their craziest dreams. 'Ritual' works like a daring adventure. In style and method, it is an album which rejoices in elated brass, 'Ritual' goes oomph without any sense of shame. Quizillion, to coin a description, is perhaps the best adjective.
