intro
Impressive vinyl only single from sardonic Los Angeles-based outfit, SMASH Fashion
SMASH Fashion's website gave me a good idea of what to expect even before the red vinyl of their new single, 'Junkie Love', was introduced to my record player. This is 'Dandy Rock' and the members of SMASH Fashion are not boys or men, they are gents. "Los Angeles based rock dandies, SMASH Fashion, features an all star line up led by the iconic Roger Deering with ex members of London Quireboys (Nigel Mogg) on bass, Finnish glam rock legends, Smack (Repo) on drums and Rock City Angels (Lloyd Stuart Casson), on guitars. The band has been entertaining audiences with their great songs and explosive stage show since 2004." SMASH Fashion are proudly indifferent to the ever changing fads in both music and style, preferring instead to throw everything they like together, from 50's rock and roll to punk to pop in to the mix. Add a handful of glitter, the odd strange mask and an impeccably put together outfit, and you are perhaps half way to describing this particular mix of sound and vision. Overall 'Junkie Love' is a mix of driving riffs and jangling guitars. The lyrics are delivered with a knowing wink and a suitable sneer. It sounds like a party because it is. SMASH Fashion are supremely confident that they know what they're doing and that you will love them for it.
