First formed in Southampton in 2011, Dead Rabbits were one of the Fuzz Club's earliest ever signings. 'The Ticket That Exploded', which was their debut album, was first released back in 2013. The actual cover artwork doesn't give too much away at all, but hidden inside are some real alternative rock gems. 'Heavenly Way' opens up the record, which hypnotises from the off set and is like slowcore Black Rebel Motorcycle Club on a Stooges trip. Singer and guitarist Tom Hayes' vocals are restrained, making it very trippy and rather delightful. 'Pulling the Trigger' is a different beast, like an updated 13th Floor Elevators with its sonic-like vision, while 'MMB' is more chilled out but still firmly within its own atmosphere. 'Never Fall' reminds me of Primal Scream's 'Damaged' from their 1989 self- titled album, and is a softer-paced ballad played on acoustics. 'Before I'm Too Late' is very fuzzed up, recalling Primal Scream but more in the line of B-side, 'Velocity Girl', while the guitars remind me of the Mary Chain's 'Darklands'. 'It's All in Her Head' is heavy on bass and drums. It drives along perfectly while Thomas' vocals might be limited but they are very effective with their punk style. 'When I'm Blue' again reminds me of my past, and this time the Mighty Lemon Drops, 'No Bounds' is an engaging, gentle rocker. 'It's You' is again Jesus and Mary Chain-flavoured, while 'Keep Me Warm' brings the album to a close in a warm and soothing way.
