intro
Dreamy and mellow debut album from Sussex-based musician and instrumentalist Moth Effect, which is drenched in 1970's nostalgia
Gentle and repetitive beats which aim to suck the listener in provide for the majority of the tracks on 'Crocodilians'. It could be seen as an antidote to 'Crocodiles', the Echo & The Bunnymen album of a similar name. Think instead of summer breeze muzak of a superior brand. On the surface Moth Effect appears to make unremarkable music, although there's an absolute jewel hidden on 'Crocodilians' in 'Ninety-Nine Seems fFne' - go judge for yourselves. Moth Effect's album can be listened to on Soundcloud. Of course though, it sounds much better on LP or CD. With all his clumsy honesty, Moth Effect's LP is a fine retro brew of prancing little ditties, evoking images of innocent hippy dance slams. Sturdy from the start and gradually becoming more startling, 'Crocodilians' sets out to be a correct portrayal of the 1970s before Echo & The Bunnymen. Loosen up and relax.
