intro
First-rate Krautrock from veteran duo Hans Joachim Irmler and Irmler Liebezeit which pays tribute to pioneering bands such as Can and Faust
Krautrock master duo Jaki Liebezeit (drums, aged 76!) and Hans Joachim Irmler (organ, 64) show off their stamina on 'Flood' ('Flut'). Aided by pulsating beats, driving organ riffs plus a great sense of tension - check 'Sempiternity' for its exemplarily menacing whirlwind tension - this tight duo without false pretence pay tribute to the glorious past of pioneering bands such as Can and Faust, who emerged in an era when by definition German musicians were not recognized, let alone seen as being groundbreaking. In the mid-1970s it was only Kraftwerk that managed to reach international success. Today however record collectors world-wide roam record market stands for rarities which more or less resemble 'Flut'. It has a predominantly carefree approach, resulting in sparkling playfulness as Liebezeit and Irmler have so much to share in between them. 'Flut' may be an album by which aspiring musicians might turn blue with jealousy. With tis groovy rhythms and smart licks, 'Flut' is matured magic to the experienced ear.
