Jack White - Photoscapes

intro
Melanie Smith takes photographs of Jack White at the Leeds Arena on his recent UK tour
Singer-songwriter and guitar maestro Jack White appeared in Leeds on his first UK stop off, which was only one of three dates. He delivered a blistering, illuminating set of both old and newer songs, which ranged from his earlier work with the White Stripes, to a couple of Raconteurs’ songs , to tracks from both 2012’s ‘Blunderbuss’ and his second and latest solo album ‘Lazaretto’. Jack White always puts on a great show and the stage set was transformed with all blue lighting, which at times made him appear like a shadowy, mysterious figure. He stalked around the stage, at times appearing full of anguish, and back and forth towards the drum kit with his magnificent guitar playing. He also eyeballed anyone who dared to hold up a mobile phone, and made reference to this with a sarcastic remark. He is one of a growing number of artists who resent people who appear to not be fully immersed in the show by holding up a mobile phone. I risked the wrath of White, and this is the result with my pocket camera. Set List: High Ball Stepper Lazaretto Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground (White Stripes) Temporary Ground Hotel Yorba (White Stripes) Weep Themselves to Sleep Astro (White Stripes) Just One Drink Love Interruption Blunderbuss Cannon (White Stripes) Screwdriver (White Stripes) Apple Blossom (White Stripes) Three Women Top Yourself (Raconteurs) I’m slowly Turning Into You (White Stripes) Encore: Icky Thump (White Stripes) Steady As She Goes (Raconteurs) The Black Bat Liquorice Would You Fight For My Love? Seven Nation Army (White Stripes) Photos by Melanie Smith www.mudkissphotography.co.uk
