intro

Innovative fourth album from Irish Americana/folk duo the Lost Brothers, which was produced by ex-Coral guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones

‘New Songs of Dawn and Dust’ is the start of a new phase for the Lost Brothers - aka the Irish duo of Mark McCausland and Oisin Leech. Previously they have collaborated with a range of artists on their first trilogy of albums which were recorded in Portland, Sheffield and Nashville. This time they have returned to Liverpool where they played their first gig in 2007, and have teamed up with producer Bill Ryder-Jones (formerly of local band the Coral and recently guest guitarist with the Arctic Monkeys). The Lost Brothers say their musical influences range from Ennio Morricone to Van Morrison via Chuck Berry, Lou Reed, Bob Dylan and Nick Cave! Certainly their material is always intriguingly innovative and the musicianship and vocals impressive. There are moments on this album that are very special – and hopefully ‘New Songs of Dawn and Dust’ will bring the Lost Brothers the wider acclaim they clearly merit.
