intro
Insincere art rock on debut album from London-formed outfit Little Tornados, which includes in its line-up Laetitia Sadier
Stereolab's Laetitia Sadier's name is all over the credits on this unexceptional album, even mentioning her as Lae Sadier. 'We Are Divine', however, differs little from the spawning post-rock arty-fartsy outfits from London which have bored the rest of the world beyond borders within recent years. Stereotypical dreamy vocals, jangling choruses, tambourine ringing chords and you should fill in the rest. Many of today's London acts turn a visit to a supermarket into some kind of adventure. "Is this my latte, or yours?" - "Doesn't really matter, tastes all the same, doesn't it?" And Little Tornados prove interchangeable with many of the other clichéd cliques. The album title should really be called 'We Are Very Predictable'. Counter culture cappuccino insincerity knows no borders. The title track indeed sounds like the ultimate case of presumption. Fret not, songs do get worse. On 'In The Garden' and 'Summertime' ("and bubbles") you might think you have got lost in Blackpool on a dreary mystery ride. Quasi intellectual muzak and good fun; cheering the double irony effect, the album remains crap, eevn though it was intended to be ironic crap.
