intro
Fabulous psychedelia/garage punk on debut EP from raucous Louisville trio, White Reaper
White Reaper come from the increasingly fertile DIY scene of Louisville, Kentucky, which has in recent years spawned a number of good musical acts. They themselves are an incandescent power trio, who are ready and willing to blow out eardrums far and wide and consist of Tony Esposito (vocals/guitar) and twin brothers Nick (drums) and Sam Wilkerson (bass). Combining sparkling hooks and fluid, fluttering rhythms they create a kind of psychedelic-tinged garage punk that has already made a few heads bob along the live circuit. They have cut their teeth playing a number of raucous local and regional shows that left everyone's ears ringing, and now it seems its time for the group to unleash their eponymous debut EP that traces the band's present and future. This six track offering is nicely packaged in a two tone CD sleeve with some good artwork adorning it. It also houses the jingly and jangly single ‘Conspirator’, which scratches the itch left behind by Jay Reatard. The infectious stand-out tracks on this little gem though are ‘Cool’ and ‘Funn’, which will undoubtedly make the ears of the Ty Segall/Oh Sees fans laugh a little. Known as Tony and the Twins in some quarters, they have reportedly got a few more surprises up their sleeves after this effort, so they are definitely worth keeping an eye out for. Incidentally this also come in a beautiful-looking clear pink vinyl format as well.
