intro

Brutal and relentless but astounding new EP from Liverpool-based grind act, Corrupt Moral Altar

I downloaded this specimen to listen to in bed on my generic MP3 player, in order to just chill out undisturbed and to soak it all in within the confines of my own room and headphones. What a mistake that was, before bed! Corrupt Moral Altar are the audio equivalent of injecting speed into one’s eyeballs when it comes to ‘gently listening to something’. Never mind, I figured. I’d have a listen to it during my dinner hour of my day job. It was a good idea, but I ended having to take the rest of the afternoon off with stress. The Liverpool grind/sludge merchants are the epitome of full on. Imagine being taken on the world’s most extreme and scary roller coaster ride, but instead of a seat and one of those things that straps you in they just attach you to the back car by your knackers, while someone screeches at you the whole way round. It’s brutal and relentless, and utterly astounding. Formed in 2012 from members of a silly amount of other UK bands including Malevolent Creation, Iron Witch, and Confine among others, this bunch are very unfamiliar with the words ‘moderate’ or ‘subtle’. It doesn’t get much more extreme than this. With its pounding double kick drums and shrieked vocal approach and deep and grinding guitars, fans of Iron Monkey and Napalm Death will love Corrupt Moral Altar. The 4 track EP features two new numbers in the form of ‘Whisky Sierra’ and ‘Lord’, along with two remastered versions of tunes from the ‘Needle Drugs’ demo. Complete with some spot on riffing and perfect beat/break downs, this is ballistic bliss.
