intro
Heartbreaking first single from her forthcoming second album for fiery-voiced New York singer-songwriter, Nell Bryden
Nell Bryden packs a lifetime of pure emotion into a less than four-minute original, ‘Buildings and Treetops’, a teaser from her upcoming album, 'Shake the Tree'. After heading into the very first bars, her heartbreak becomes quickly evident; she chronicles her relationship’s demise and the misty-eyed aftermath that awaits with just the right amount of restraint before a rather unpredictable, but satisfying structural change surfaces. Bryden’s voice is warm, supple and when needed, forceful. This single already sounds different than the staples on her debut, and it will be exciting to hear how she handles the musical ideas in her follow-up. Bryden’s debut, 'What Does It Take', found its way up the BBD Radio Playlist and led to enviable performance slots at Camp Bestival and Guilfest. She is currently touring with Chris Rea, and she will soon be supporting country star twanger, Duane Eddy. If this pop-infused arrangement, tempered by the Brooklynite’s scorching vocals, reflects the entire album’s contents, we’re in for a real treat.
