intro
Brilliant new multi-mixed EP from London-based singer-songwriter, which inlcudes a cover of the Cure's A Forest
'A Forest' was the Cure classic and here it is delivered twice by London-based singer-songwriter Sophie Barker, alongside three versions of the other track on this EP, her own track, 'Say Goodbye'. 'A Forest' appears in both an extended and an edited version. It sounds odd at first with a female rather than Robert Smith singing it, but soon becomes riveting. It is perfectly arranged with strings and when her backing band kicks in Sophie's voice, which is reminiscent of Chrissie Hynd heree, becomes increasingly sexy. 'Say Goodbye' is in its edited form posh and sophisticated and will appeal to fans of Tori Amos and Kate Bush. The Beauty Room is the more radio friendly of the two remixes, while the Elephant remix again has an element of the Cure. A brilliant EP.
