intro

Appealing abrasive garage rock on debut album from Glasgow-based group, She's Hit

A band that take their name from a Birthday Party song, that could be interesting listening. She’s Hit are a garage rock band from Glasgow, and listening to them takes me back a good 20 years or so. There’s lots of reverb, snarling vocals, and droning guitars. 'Pleasure' is their debut album, previously having released a split single with fellow Glaswegians, Jacob Yates and the Pearly Gate Lockers. Influences listed appear to be most of the bands I grew up listening to and going to see, and I can definitely hear where they are coming from. My past I think, and it’s exciting to think that bands are taking those influences and creating something new with them. The final track on the album, 'Forfeit to Despair', really stands out for me. It’s more sparse instrumentally and it frames the laconic vocals of David Wilson, rather than adding them to the drone of the guitars. If you like post punk, Velvets at their most noisy and lots of reverb you should definitely make time to listen to and go see She’s Hit.
