intro
Haunting and ambient-sounding debut album from Indy Award winning, London-based singer-songwriter, Evi Vine
Evi Vine is an artist that comes from an old fashioned world and not the world that I live in, thank heavens for that. 'The Dreamers' starts off '...And So the Morning Comes', which is her debut album. It is haunting and lush from its opening notes, and a chill-out ambient shoegaze number. Her vocals on it breaks your heart into a thousand pieces in a similiar way to Hope Sandoval. 'Down' is quiet and gentle, almost psychedelic, again in a hypnotic Mazzy Star way, while 'In This Moment' is a lo-fi number, acoustic but gentle and absolutely charming and has an elemment of Kate Bush. On 'Inside Her' Evi's vocals recall PJ Harvey, while the acoustic backing sounds like a stripped down Doors. 'Colours of the Night' comes from another planet and she sounds on it like a female Nick Drake or Tim Buckley. 'Kiss' is loud and crisp with a sharp vocal upon which Evi shows herself in complete control of her voice. 'I Let You Leave' is like haunting Opal, gentle on the ears, and as soft as silk and very sad. 'Time Flies' is slow and soft, lush-sounding track. 'All the Beauty' ends the album and is a lovely piece that is as gentle and ambient as a child-like Bjork. A fine record!
