Miscellaneous - Use Your Mind! Don't Be Blind

intro
In his 'Evidently Spencertown' poetry series Spencer Robertshaw looks at gangs and knife culture
Spitting rhymes No crimes Need no drugs for my high times Use your mind Don’t be blind Look for trouble it will come and find Easy to take the wrong path Even brag, have a laugh But what happens when it comes to an end You’ll find that prison bars don’t bend Education's a dirty word It’s the stuff of fools You’ll be OK on the street As long as you carry your tools Then you make a mistake Trying to show off You never meant that life to take How the others scoff Life in jail for a second's work Not a bad rate of pay But you’d rather sweep the streets Than the cell 23 hours a day Use your mind Don’t be blind Look for trouble it will come and find Stop! Be a member of mankind Turn the other cheek It takes a bigger man It’s only the weak That don’t do right when they can

This is so very true to where our young people are headed if they aren't careful. They are full of their own culture, their self assurance can be so quickly taken away from them when their house of cards tumbles down before their very eyes .... and it is usually a permanent change.
Invincible they are not.
