intro
Splendid electro-punk on new single from Kent-based act What Would Jesus Drive? which uses their own home made instrumentation
Rough edged and electronic noise is how What Would Jesus Drive? are described, with their raw modern punk sound complete with whirring keyboards all sounding a little like an adolescent version of the Horrors, which is a very good thing. I, however, just dug their name. I mean what would Jesus drive? That is a very good question, I think he’d ride a horse though, or better still take public transport, and cut his Carbon footprint down. Veering back to the relevant, What Would Jesus Drive, the band, not the question, are clearly making waves with home made electronic musical gadgets from well, ‘homemade electronic instrument player’ Tim (or synth player I suppose), while Gemma uses a mixture of drum machines to make an unholy racket. ‘Transylvania Time’ has that noisy bratty punk feel to it. With married couple Tim and Amy on bass and front vocals and guitar duties respectively, it all works splendidly together. What Would Jesus Drive have already shared the stage with Dirty Pretty Things, Art Brut and the View and are certainly worth checking out with they come with their home made gadgets through your neck of the woods.
