intro
Immaculate and emotive dubstep and reggae on new album from Swiss duo, Filewile
Filewile bring forth a plethora of lounge, dubstep and downbeat reggae tracks over the course of 'Blueskywell'. For the most part, 'Blueskywell' is a most elegant effort into the deep realms of dub. The album's standout quality lies in an extra pop sensitivity which seamlessly seems to add to the smooth vibes crafted by Filewile. The production is truly immaculate; all electronic vibes which blend the deep echoes and popping melodies. The dub durability goes hand-in-hand with a lasting catchy appeal to such tracks as 'Kick the Spacedrum' and 'Radiotower'. The reference artist who comes closest must be Prince. Clever hooks, funky bumps and, most of all, smart melody lines that are all over the place. As the saying goes, this ticks like a Swiss ... By no means a clinical affair however; exquisite and well thought out yes, but equally soulful and emotive. Playful excursions like 'King Of the World' prolonged my sense of unbelief about Swiss pop music of style and perfection. the tracks that follow it tracks could as well be candidates for smashing single reggae pop releases, I simply had a look at the cover and, to treat myself, pushed the repeat button once more. The German language knows a specific expression for a juicy bite like this Filewile album; ein echter Leckerbissen.
