intro
Satirical country/surf punk on strong second single from Sheffield-based guitar act, Screaming Mimi
Screaming Mimi are from Sheffield and have been gigging with fellow Sheffielders the Repomen and the Leeds based Scaramanga Six. Title track, 'Electric Thighs', has a country sound to it and is somewhat slower than the other two tracks on this CD single. It's a Dear John letter set to music, but with a sense of humour that keeps it from falling into the Radio 2 playlist country music genre. 'My Favourite Objects' is a fast but not frantic second track and 'A New Cure for Heartache' is the third track, an instrumental featuring singer Loretta Chantry on theremin, which she plays rather well, as in it fits well with the track, after all they are rather odd instruments. The latter two tracks are more surf than country with a rockabilly tinge and this, combined with it's vocal style makes 'My Favourite Objects' my preferred track of the three.
