intro
Fine second single from South Yorkshire-based shoegazing band, Exit Calm
'We're On Our Own' is the second release from the new South Yorkshire band, Exit Calm, whose debut single, 'Awake', which also came out on Club AC30, sold out instantly. It is produced, mixed and mastered by Nu gaze star, Ulrich Schnauss, and also features a great old school Creation Records-style foldover sleeve. 'We're On Our Own' starts with strong drums and guitars that have a wavy feel about them that recollects early Ride. When Nicky Smith's vocals join in, it completely changes the direction that the track is going in. From here on in, it becomes reminiscent of the Verve's 'A Storm in Heaven'. The whole track is pure bliss. The B side, 'Alone', has strong acoustic guitars and a commanding vocal from Nicky to match. It is very relaxed in tone but also has a strong message to it.
