intro
Pleasing compilation of obscure contemporary electronica from six artists and groups from all around Europe
This is a collection of tracks from six artists/groups from all around Europe, a compilation “documenting the state of modern electronic art and sound design, unconventional sound adventures, contemporary electronica that is challenging the ears and the mind”. At least, that’s according to the Bip-Hop website. It’s certainly an interesting listening experience in any case. These are the kinds of artists that you’re not going to hear unless you go out looking for them. The music presented here is not likely to be played on anything other than the most specialist of radio stations, and as for TV exposure, I’d say there’s more chance of Noel Edmonds' getting a contemporary haircut. So if for nothing else, Bip-Hop should be praised for putting this album together and getting it out there. Anyone who dedicates themselves to finding and distributing music that they love should be rewarded for their efforts in my opinion, so I urge you to go out and buy this record. You might just find something to get really excited about. For me, it’s not an album I would be likely to listen to all the way through, at least not very often, but for dipping in and out of, it’s great. This is one of those records that you stick on your MP3 player and forget about, then one of the tracks pops up on shuffle one day and catches you pleasantly by surprise. Let’s hope there’ll be a volume 10.
