intro
Latest single from much acclaimed post rock Danish group Efterklang's 'Parades' album, which appears on vinyl with an exclusive new track and on downlaod with two only in-part successful remixes
Oddly enough Efterklang's 'Parades' from 2007 never got reviewed on these webpages but as a reminder comes this single lifted from the album, with a new track on the seven inch, and with a further two extra remix versions on the digital download EP. 'Caravan' is only slightly radio friendly and the purpose behind the vinyl release doesn't seem to get into the charts but to supply the Efterklang faithfuls with the excellent 'The Romance On Mammoth Hill' - a hypnotic and haunting little affair. On the download Max de Wardener decomposes 'Caravan' and with an emphasis on the brass instrument and chants its remix surprisingly would have fitted the bill on 'Parades'. Vincent Oliver's reworking of 'Mirador' turns the track into a very odd juxtaposition of jolly electronic bubbles, with the trombone remaining, and the somewhat melancholic vocals of Casper Clausen , but it does not really work out.
