Our Website of the Month is Leicester Bangs is a new music website that first went on-line in March of this year, and which is named in homage both to the American rock writer Lester Bangs, and also its editor Rob Forbes' hometown of Leicester.

Leicester Bangs www.leicesterbangs.co.uk is a new music website that first went on-line in March of this year. It is named in homage both to the American rock writer Lester Bangs, and also its editor Rob Forbes’ hometown of Leicester. Leicester Bangs has to date concentrated on album reviews, publishing approximately 40 a month and focusing mainly on the punk, country, folk and blues genres. It recently, however, published its first feature, an article by the American singer-songwriter David Rovics about urban planning in the United States, and hopes eventually to run reviews on books, DVD and zines also. As well as Rob, Leicester Bangs currently features the work of another five writers including Pennyblackmusic’s Geraint Jones. It puts a strong focus on high quality writing. There is a Venues page which lists all the concert halls and live music pubs in Rob’s home town, and a Links page which focuses on the music community in Lecicestershire.
