Promising single from Midlands-based discocore upstarts Lost Alone
Derby discocore upstarts Lost Alone provide a taster for their upcoming debut 'Say No To The World' with the Kasabian-meets-Lostprophets bombast of 'Unleash The Sands Of All Time'. Despite the frankly shocking title this is a defiantly placed foot in the sand from the young Midlands three-piece. Singer Steven Battelle stretches his throat to its limits with a melody which sounds awkward for all of three seconds before tunnelling into your psyche with a hook the size of China. Mark Gibson's furious metal disco beat drives things along, and raises the bar for any band currently wrestling the urge to play guitars over some good old-fashioned dance beats. A predictable but so-very-welcome drop down section provides the requisite build up into the euphoric outro refrain "To say Goodbye is the hardest thing in life" before we're left with the hollow feeling of being abandoned. Good job then, that the 90s indie stylings of 'Telepathy Nights' and the acid-nursery rhyme melodies of 'Execute' follow on, both of which whilst not sounding as ambitious or infectious as the A-side, certainly provide a further taste of a band who have the potential to be something more than just another British emo band.
