intro

Punchy indie dance rock from up-and-coming Scottish group, the View

After the View’s recent success touring and causing havoc in all four corners of the UK, ‘Superstar Tradesman’ serves up a slice of what us View-virgins have missed out on, while for the ones fortunate enough to have caught the Scottish scamps it will only serve to remind them of what was probably a pretty wild and memorable show. To be honest after reading how lively this band were live I was a little disappointed with ‘Superstar Tradesman’ when I first heard it. On second listen everything seemed to click into place. I think I was expecting Motley Crue only with the Proclaimers singing, so of course after that thought anything less would inevitably disappoint. What I did find on my second listen was a song that swept me off my feet with its punchy chorus, whirring guitars and gravel-vocals and somehow I was reeled in. Instead of ramming heavy riffs and whiskey drenched tales down your throat, the View do their own brand of hectic and energetic music in a much subtler way, and once the hook gets in your head it just grows and grows on you. The band seem to have a real knack of creating a danceable rock sound. With guitarist/vocalist Kyle Falconer, the View have a really recognisable singer whom it would be hard not to pick out when dancing in a drunken haze on any given Saturday night. I look forward to it.
