intro
Enjoyable and pleasant electro pop released on 7" vinyl from Glaswegian duo Firebrand Boy
Philip and Gordon, the two lads who are Firebrand Boy, come from Glasgow in Scotland, but to my ears they might as well be from Sweden, as their kind of sound is very popular amongst Swedish music fans at the moment. Bands like Slagsmelsklubben('Fight club' translated from Swedish) and the Radio Dept are constantly playing to sell out audiences, and groups that sound like them are everywhere now. The A-side to this beautiful orange coloured 7" single is a song called 'Orange', and draws comparisons with the Radio Dept, because of its slow, heavily distorted electronic sound. This is a good song, and it's full of pleasant little sounds which are very audible when listening to the song with headphones on. The B-side is where the action is, and immediately when the song starts I recall the old Commodore 64 games that filled my days as a young boy. 'Three Mile Wish' is a perfect slab of nostalgia for those of us that were born in the late 70's. I think I would have been even more enthusiastic if it wasn't for all the Swedish bands that are doing exactly the same thing at the moment. But hey, it is a great tune! And I will keep my eyes open for future releases.
