intro
New 70's funk-inspired tour only double A sided 7 inch from Sterolab
This new double A sided 7 inch was only available on Stereolab's recent tour, at which they just played one date in Britain at the London Koko. 'Solar Throw-Away' has a 60's space age groove to it. It has a funky novelty to it, and could easily have appeared on the soundtrack to the TV show 'Space 1999'. Halfway through it changes tempo, and gets a Mexican vibe with some trumpet being added. The other side 'Jump Drive Shut-Out' is much slower and also has a clapped hands style beat, before developing a 70's funk groove. Unlike the other song which has a vocal, this song is an instrumental. It ends with some more trumpet, but this time it is more restrained.
